1 Day Mombasa City Excursion and a Tour of Haller Park (Bamburi Nature Trail)

The 1 day Mombas City Tour/Excursoin begins with a drive on Mama Ngina Drive to see the giant baobab trees that have lived for about 1000 years. We will then drive to the Fort Jesus a fortress built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. From the fort you will walk on foot through alleys of Mombasa Old Town then visit the the colonial Mackinon Market before proceeding to the famous tusks over Moi Avenue erected in 1952 in honour of Queen Elizabeth II first visit to Kenya. 

After lunch at your hotel you will visit Haller Park (Bamburi Nature Trail) a large animal sanctuary and an impressive example of successful regeneration through reforestation and conservation. The site was previously used for limestone mining, but through careful redevelopment has become a habitat for local fora and fauna. In the Haller Park (Bamburi Nature Trail) visitors can see most of Kenya’s indigenous wildlife, including hippopotamuses, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and more.   Drive back to the hotel in the late afternoon.

1 Day Wasini Island Dolphin Dhow

Leave your Mombas HOtel in the morning and drive south about to Shimoni near the Kenya/Tanzania border. En-route you will see colourful villages of the Digo people, see cashew nut, coconut, and sugarcane plantations. On arrival in Shimoni, board a traditional dhow sailing vessel and cruise through the islands to discover the underwater splendours of the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park and National Reserve. Snorkel in the coral reefs, see the wonders of the underwater world from a glass bottom boat, or simply sunbathe on the tropical island! There will always be a friendly dolphin on hand to welcome visitors to their habitat! After discovering the enchantment of life underwater, head to Wasini Island for a sumptuous lunch of fresh seafood, and a discovery of Swahili life on land! In the afternoon, visit the local Muslim villages and the Shimoni Slave Caves, returning to Mombasa in the late afternoon to arrive at the hotel before nightfall.

Depart from your Mombasa Hotel in the morning and drive through the countryside to Kaloleni where you will be able to see flora, fauna, farmlands with houses and villages and the beautiful tropical countryside. Visit the local market in Kaloleni, deep in Giriama land where the people get their daily needs, like fruits, vegetables, clothes and any other household goods. There is also an opportunity to see St. Lukes hospital run by missionary of the Anglican Church.

From here continue through Chonyi land to a village in the lush coast vegetation. Visit the Primary School and see the way of life in the village, the local medicine man, the real Giriama life and taste the local brews.

 A visit to a local medicine man enlightens you on his practice as well as giving you a chance to get treated for various ailments and you also could try his famous love charms. Apart from the medicine man, you will also see different day-to-day activities in the villages.

Cultural Tour/Bush Tour - Mombasa Excursions

From there continue your excursion through the mango and sisal plantation on way to Porini Village for a late African lunch and entertainment with local dancers. After lunch, transfer back to your hotel arriving early evening.
